How to Experience the Power of God’s Word Against Satan

How often do you experience the power of God’s word?

And I mean the true power?

How to Experience the Power of God's Word

For me, I can reflect on a passage or two and maybe discover some guidance or collect some encouragement.

But I’ve spent most of my Christian walk rarely digging deep enough to experience that soul-shaking, heart-changing power of His Word.

So what changed?

What is the difference between simply reading God’s word and taking on the divine power it has to offer?

It begins with commitment.

A commitment to study Scripture, to memorize it and to pray it often.

When we bury God’s word within our heart, we build a fortress of truth that protects us from the lies of Satan.

As I’ve spent more time digging deep into God’s word, my eyes have been opened to the lies that surround my heart.

I’ve noticed the times that Satan tries to sneak in an attack. I see the deception and the manipulation before it has a chance to take hold.

When we bury God’s word within our heart, we build a fortress of truth that protects us from the lies of Satan.

The Truth is a light that sears through any lie that Satan offers.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. -Ephesians 6:17

The word of God is our sword, it is our weapon against the evil one.

In order to use any weapon we must know it well. We must study it, learn it and practice with it.

I encourage you to commit to studying, memorizing and praying the Scriptures daily.

When we do this, it casts a light so bright on our hearts that Satan has no room to stand.

It takes surrender.

As God’s word weaves its way into our hearts, we must surrender ourselves to the transformative power it offers.

We cannot allow God to work within us until we allow Him to truly enter into us.

I will be the first one to say that surrender is not easy. Not ever. Often, I have been reluctant to surrender until I am at the end of my rope with no other options.

And no matter how hard I try to do it all myself, when I fail, God is waiting with open arms.

When we lay down our hearts before the Lord, we invite his life-giving presence to transform us and to mold us.

And one of the greatest ways He does this is through His word.

As I’ve studied the Scriptures more regularly, I’ve seen a change in my mindset and in my heart.

I am more aware of the transforming work that God is doing inside me.

When we study the Word, we learn what it is that God is asking us to step into and we find the courage we need to step out of the dark.

And in stepping into the light, we take the greatest stand of all against Satan.

It takes honesty.

What is holding you back from commitment? What is keeping you from surrender?

Until we are able to take an honest look at what stands between us and the Lord, we will not be able to take hold of the life that Christ offers us here on earth.

We may have the amazing gift of salvation as we walk here on this earth. But Satan still runs rampant in this world.

Satan is fighting to destroy your peace and to keep you from the life-giving presence of God.

What does that look like in your life?

For me it is often fear. I fear that if I surrender my heart, I will be hurt. I fear that if I walk in God’s strength, it won’t be enough.

The Lord is working for you.

He wants you to step into His light and take hold of His power. When we do this, we will discover the strength we need to stand against Satan.

  1. Amen, Nicole: “We cannot allow God to work within us until we allow Him to truly enter into us.” Love this reminder to dive deep into our one offensive weapon and use it as a guard around our hearts and minds.
    Sweet blessings!

  2. Too often what keeps me from the deeper study is my own time restraints. Being a slave to my calendar. This plan is so simple! Yet the world is so LOUD and so persistent. I know when God’s truth surrounds me, Satan will fail. Thanks Nicole!

  3. Nicole- Timely message. I’ve been hearing so much lately on strategies for standing against Satan and sadly few are based on God’s Word, especially God’s Word as the weapon God says it is. Thank you for this!
